Como 1907 supports the initiative A rare dessert for fragile children ”on the occasion of the Rare Diseases Day.
February 29 is a rare day and for this reason it was chosen to celebrate Rare Disease Day, an initiative that this year is in its fifteenth edition. The term Rare Diseases indicates those conditions whose prevalence in the population is less than 5 cases per 10 thousand inhabitants. A significant share of rare diseases has genetic origins and more often affects children and young people; others have environmental, infectious or allergic origins. 80% of cases manifest the first symptoms in pediatric age.
From February 26 to March 13, the patisseries and bakeries participating in the initiative will sell a dessert created by them for the occasion (to date there are over 30 between the city of Como and the province of Como and Milan).
Part of the proceeds from the sale of sweets will be donated to the SILVIA association (https://www.silviaonlus.org ) and the association Differamente Paritori (https://www.diversamentegenitori.it ) to support “Zeno’s dream”, a project that aims to promote a more widespread use of augmentative alternative communication (AAC) in Como schools for the benefit of students with complex communication needs.
Do as we do, buy a dessert that is good twice and help the fight against rare diseases!
