Como 1907 Signs Brazilian Defender Diego Carlos

Como 1907 confirms the signing of Brazilian centre back Diego Carlos from Fenerbahçe on a season long deal for 2025/26.

A solid and experienced defender, Diego Carlos has built an impressive track record across Europe’s top leagues. After beginning his career in Brazil, he made his debut in Portugal’s Primeira Liga with Estoril in 2015 and went on to make 31 appearances.

He then joined Nantes in Ligue 1 where he spent three seasons and featured in 108 matches before moving to Sevilla. There he played 136 games across La Liga domestic cups, the Champions League and the Europa League and helped the Spanish side lift the Europa League trophy in the 2019/20 season.

In 2022 he signed for Aston Villa in the Premier League and added 58 more appearances while further broadening his international experience.

Alongside his club success Diego Carlos also won Olympic gold with Brazil at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Como head coach Cesc Fàbregas said “Diego Carlos is a solid and experienced defender. He understands our style of play and will be a great addition to our back line.”

Expressing his enthusiasm for the move Diego Carlos said “I chose Como because of the club’s project, which is really exciting and built on a wonderful footballing history. I spoke to the manager about his vision, a very promising project that is still developing and evolving. I told him that I want to help both him and the team, and also support all the fans who dream of seeing this club become something great.”
