COMO 1907 WOMEN: A SEASON OF GROWTH AND SUCCESS
The Como 1907 Women’s First Team enjoyed a remarkable season of growth in their first season in the Eccellenza Championship. Under the guidance of Heather O’Reilly, the team made a significant leap in quality, finishing 2nd in the table with an impressive record: 25 wins, 2 draws, and just 3 defeats, scoring 151 goals and conceding only 16.
Heather O’Reilly’s arrival brought a winning mentality and a professional approach that transformed the squad. This progress was further supported by the new training centre in Casnate, which provided state-of-the-art facilities and an ideal environment for continuous development. Meanwhile, the new home ground quickly became a true fortress on matchdays.
Italian forward Claudia Zorzetto shared her thoughts on the Como 1907 project:
“The club always make sure we have everything we need. I want to express a heartfelt thank you, because the level of care and attention shown to each of us on a personal level is something I’ve rarely experienced elsewhere.
In terms of resources and support, knowing, and truly feeling, that we were being treated at the same level as the men’s first team, who play in Serie A, is incredibly rare. It meant a lot to me. I genuinely consider myself very lucky.
“Looking back on the season, I’ve no regrets about the effort I put in or what I gave on the pitch. I’ll never stop thanking the club for the trust they placed in me — not just from the staff, but across the board. I felt genuinely supported, and that trust allowed me to give my absolute all.
On a personal level, I’m proud to have shown just how much commitment I brought every time I stepped on the pitch.”
A historic moment was reached with the matches played at Stadio Sinigaglia, where the team attracted over 1,477 fans and created a thrilling atmosphere. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the growing popularity of women’s football in Como.
The season also saw a standout performance from Rossella Sardu, who finished as the top scorer with 27 goals – a clear testament to the team’s attacking strength.
A special thank you goes to our incredible fans, who supported us in every match—creating an unforgettable atmosphere at Sinigaglia and following us with passion on every away game. Your support was essential to our success.
