Match Preview Como Vs Lazio
Following their home victory in the first round of the 2025/26 Coppa Italia against Südtirol, Como 1907 are ready to kick off the new Serie A campaign, once again starting from their home ground on the shores of Lake Como. Tomorrow evening, the Lariani will host Lazio on Matchday 1 of the 2025/26 Serie A Enilive season, officially beginning their second consecutive year in the top tier of Italian football.
Cesc Fàbregas’ Comments Ahead of Como v Lazio
“Another season in Serie A, our second in a row after twenty-one years. We’re very happy and incredibly excited to be here. For us, as a club, it represents stability. Year after year, the project continues to grow. Seeing this club develop with the support of the fans, with unity and a shared vision, makes me fall in love with what we’re building.
“Looking at Lazio during pre-season, you can clearly see Maurizio Sarri’s influence. I expect a well-drilled side, full of experience, physical strength, and very clear ideas. It will be a great match.
“When approaching any game, we must be a team that is prepared and strong from the very first minute. Whoever steps onto the pitch must do so with hunger and the desire to make an impact.”
Lazio
Lazio begin the new season with the return of Maurizio Sarri to the dugout. The coach will make his second debut for the Biancocelesti, leading a squad without new faces but with a well-established core.
In attack, the spotlight will be on Pedro — still decisive and confirmed as a key player — alongside Zaccagni and starting striker Castellanos. In midfield, the playmaking responsibilities fall to Nicolò Rovella, supported by Guendouzi and Dele-Bashiru.
In defence, with Romagnoli suspended, the centre-back pairing will be Provstgaard and Gila, with Nuno Tavares and Marušić on the flanks. In goal, the battle continues between Provedel and Mandas.
Head-to-Head Record
Como and Lazio have faced each other 29 times across Serie A, Serie B, and the Coppa Italia. The overall record favours the Biancocelesti, with 14 Lazio wins, 5 victories for Como, and 10 draws.
In the two most recent official encounters, played during last season’s historic campaign, which saw Como finish in 10th place, Lazio won the home fixture, while the return leg ended in a draw.
In 14 previous meetings played in Lombardy, the record is perfectly balanced: 4 wins for Como (the most recent being a 2–1 victory in Serie A 1988/89), 7 draws (most recently 0–0 in Serie B 1982/83), and 4 wins for Lazio.
