Match Preview Como Vs Genoa

Following their away match against Bologna, Como return to the Sinigaglia Stadium for the third matchday of the 2025/26 Serie A Enilive season. This evening, they will host Genoa on the shores of Lake Como, seeking their second victory of the season.

Como 1907’s Head Coach Cesc Fabregas before Como-Genoa

“I hope we find a Como similar to what we did in Bologna, but with goals. That’s the most important thing for me. We need to score. We need to raise the level of quality in the final meters and be more demanding. When we make a mistake in a pass, it should hurt.

“Patrick Vieira is a reference for me as a person, as a professional, as a player and now as a coach. It’s true that now he’s changed a bit – before maybe it was more of a defense always in a zone, always played from the back, now maybe he’s a bit more direct, finds solutions more forward, but Genoa is a very physical team that goes strong, defends well and for me he’s a person I respect a lot in the world of football.

“I am genuinely emotional about getting my coaching license. It’s been four and a half years of continuous work, of constantly seeking how to improve as a coach, making that step from player to coach which is always very difficult. I’m very happy to have done it here in Italy, a country that continues to give me so much.”

Genoa

Patrick Vieira’s Genoa approach the third matchday with a solid defensive identity, confirmed by their performances against Lecce and Juventus, in which they conceded only 3 shots on target.

In attack, however, the Rossoblù have yet to find the net: they are the only team in the 2025/26 Serie A still goalless. Their last goal dates back to the final matchday of last season, scored by Venturino in Bologna — a goal drought now standing at 227 minutes.

On the right flank, Ellertsson and Norton-Cuffy caused problems for Juventus, consistently pushing forward and creating numerical superiority. The 13 open-play crosses and 52 long passes highlight a side that plays in a direct and vertical manner.

In terms of pressing, Genoa remain among the most aggressive teams in the league and were second only to Bologna last season.

Previous Matches
