A New Era Begins for the Women’s Team Under the Leadership of Legend of the game Heather O’Reilly

Como, Italy – August 1st 2024 – Como 1907 Football Club is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking new chapter for its women’s team, set to mirror the fairytale rise of the men’s squad. Following the historic ascent of the Como 1907 men’s team from Serie D to the pinnacle of Italian football in Serie A, the stage is now set for the women’s team to embark on their own journey from underdog to champion.

After a stellar season in the Promozione championship, where they amassed an impressive 58 points, achieved 19 victories, suffered only two defeats, and secured one draw, the Como 1907 women’s team scored 85 goals and conceded just 11. These extraordinary stats clinched them first place and promotion to the Eccellenza championship. Now, with eyes firmly set on reaching Serie A, the club is excited to introduce a monumental figure in women’s soccer to lead the charge: Heather O’Reilly. Heather will be an advisor to the club, working with the coaching staff and sporting director to help create the architecture for the club to reach its ambition.

Heather O’Reilly, an iconic American midfielder with over 200 caps for the United States Women’s National Team, brings unparalleled experience and passion to Como 1907. Her illustrious career is decorated with three Olympic gold medals and a FIFA Women’s World Cup title in 2015. O’Reilly’s club career spans multiple prestigious leagues, notable stints at Arsenal and North Carolina Courage.

The journey will be captured in a documentary series, following Heather O’Reilly and the Como 1907 women’s team as they strive for promotion this season and beyond. The series will document the trials, triumphs, and the unyielding spirit of an underdog team determined to make history.
