Carmen Menayo signs for Como 1907 Women

Como 1907 Women are delighted to announce the signing of Spanish defender Carmen Menayo.

Menayo arrives in Como following an outstanding career with Atlético Madrid, where she made more than 150 appearances and captained one of Europe's leading clubs. Renowned for her leadership, consistency and composure, she established herself as one of the standout defenders in Liga F while also competing regularly in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

After beginning her career at Santa Teresa, Menayo joined Atlético Madrid in 2016 and went on to win three Liga F titles, one Copa de la Reina and one Supercopa de España. At international level, she represented Spain's youth teams more than 50 times, lifting both the UEFA Women's Under-17 European Championship in 2015 and the Under-19 European Championship in 2017.

Her experience and winning mentality will strengthen Coach Selena Mazzantini's squad as Como 1907 Women prepare for their first season in Serie A Women.

Heather O'Reilly, Head of Women's Football at Como 1907, commented: "Carmen will be a great addition at left centre-back. She has an incredible left foot, which allows her to play into midfield really well, and she's also a real asset on set pieces. She comes from a long stint at Atlético Madrid and we are so pleased she chose us for the next step of her footballing journey."

Upon her arrival in Como, Carmen Menayo said: "My first impressions are wonderful, I already feel right at home. I’ll bring my experience and my work ethic to the table, and I can’t wait to get to work and do my best to be as successful as possible in this jersey".
