A late goal, a room on its feet and a drink waiting at the final whistle. In its fifth season, Cheers4Como has turned bars across the territory into meeting places for every Como 1907 victory.
There is a moment when a bar stops feeling like a bar. A shot finds the corner, chairs scrape the floor and strangers are hugging beside the counter. For seconds, the room belongs to everyone. The television is all anybody can see. The noise could have come from the Curva Como.
This is matchday through Cheers4Como, the Como 1907 initiative that gives every victory somewhere else to land. For each official home or away fixture, customers seated at participating venues receive a complimentary drink when Como win. At the final whistle, a new round begins.
The idea is simple. No need to be inside the Sinigaglia. Just watch, wait and hope the drink tastes of three points.
Cheers4Como began in 2022/23 and returns for its fifth season. Since then, Como have travelled from Serie B into a new chapter, and the gatherings have grown with them. In the most recent campaign, more than 12,000 complimentary drinks were served across 15 partner venues. A small reward has become a local ritual.
The map matters. Venues stretch from Como to Cernobbio, Cantù, Erba, Lezzeno, Orsenigo, Lambrugo and beyond. Each has its regulars, character and way of watching. Together, they form a network of blue and white rooms, connected by the same fixture and nervous glance at the clock.
"Our venue is mainly frequented by local people, and many of our customers are regulars," explains one of the participating bar owners. "Since joining Cheers4Como, however, matchday has become a special occasion for everyone to get together, particularly when the team are playing away."
Away matches reveal the idea at its best. Not everyone can travel or wants to watch alone. A familiar bar offers another option. Friends reserve their usual table. Someone arrives in the shirt. Another checks the line-up. The whistle goes and every conversation follows the ball.
For 90 minutes, distance disappears. Groans travel between tables after a missed chance. A goal lifts the whole room. Behind the bar, staff follow the score while pouring drinks, caught between serving the crowd and joining it.
"The atmosphere we create feels just like being at the stadium," the owner continues. "I must admit that the complimentary drink gives everyone an extra incentive to cheer—even us behind the bar."
Many venues are run by people whose connection to Como long predates the initiative.
"We are delighted to be part of Cheers4Como because our venue is frequented by so many Como supporters," says another owner. "We have been fans ourselves for more than 40 years."
Como's audience keeps changing, bringing generations and new faces into spaces shaped by regulars. Cheers4Como gives them the same table.
"Our clientele continues to evolve, while our regular customers remain at the heart of the venue," the owner adds. "Of course, when the dates and kick-off times make away trips accessible, some supporters travel to follow the team."
For those who remain, the venue becomes a second home. It does not copy the stadium or need to. Its atmosphere comes from proximity. The screen is smaller, conversations are closer and the person serving your drink may be as invested in the result as you are.
"It feels like being at the stadium, especially when the match is going our way," the owner says with a smile. "The excitement keeps building, and nobody turns down the complimentary beer or cocktail."
The drink may be the promise, but it is rarely the real reason people stay. Long before the round is poured, the experience has been built from tense silences, spontaneous chants, hands covering faces and the release that follows a goal. Victory simply gives everyone permission to remain together a little longer.
It also sends something back into the local area. Each match brings people through the doors of independent venues, introduces customers to new places and creates a direct connection between the club and the businesses that welcome its supporters. The relationship works because every part of it feels local. The team, the bar, the faces around the table.
Cheers4Como understands that support is not limited to a seat in the stadium. It can live in a crowded room in Cantù, at a familiar counter in Como or around a table overlooking another part of the lake. It is found wherever people choose to watch together.
When Como win, the free drink arrives as the final gesture. Glasses rise, the room settles and the match immediately becomes a story people will retell. The toast is for the result, but also for the place and the people who shared it. One team, many rooms, one celebration.
