Como 1907 is pleased to announce that Ivan Smolčić has signed a new contract with the club until June 2031.
The Croatian defender joined Como in January 2025 and has since become an important part of the first team squad, making 41 appearances and providing two assists across Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
His consistency, defensive strength and willingness to adapt have made him a valued presence within Cesc Fàbregas’ squad, contributing to a season of significant progress for the club, including Como 1907’s historic first qualification for the Champions League.
Cesc Fàbregas, Head Coach of Como 1907, commented, “Ivan has earned this extension through his work, his attitude and the consistency he has shown every day. From the moment he arrived, he has understood what we ask from our defenders, both with and without the ball, and he has continued to grow with real humility. As a coach, players like Ivan give you trust. He is reliable, competitive and always ready for the team, and that is exactly the kind of mentality we want to keep building with at Como.”
Commenting on the contract renewal, Ivan Smolčić said, “Como felt like home immediately, and renewing means we are mutually happy to build our future together. I've improved tactically and defensively, pushed by the coach in a fantastic, multicultural dressing room. Last season was incredible. I'm sure that the next one will be the same, even better, because we are playing in the Champions League. We will give our best."
The club is delighted to continue its journey with Ivan as Como 1907 prepares for the next chapter of its growth on both the domestic and European stage.
