Como 1907 Femminile Wins Serie B and Advances to Serie A Women

Como 1907 celebrates its women’s first team, which today clinched the Serie B title with three matches remaining, securing the club’s first-ever promotion to Serie A Women.

The BiancoBlu achieved their goal in Rome, on Trastevere’s home turf, maintaining an eleven-point lead over second place and sealing the title in the best possible way. Como 1907 Femminile will therefore compete next season in the top national division, Serie A Women.

Led by head coach Selena Mazzantini, the team won the championship and secured promotion in its first season in Serie B Women, posting a record of 18 wins, three draws, and one loss, with the league’s best attack and best defense. It has been a standout campaign for the BiancoBlu, who also played two matches at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium during the season.

Head of Women’s Football Heather O’Reilly said: “We are thankful for the Club’s support, allowing us the platform to be successful. The team, the players did everybody proud throughout the whole season, the character to be focused on every game and to win the league with three games to spare speaks so much of their level and mentality. For some of these players it was a step down to come to the Serie B but we were all unified in our purpose which was to be champions and we did it today”.

Coach Selena Mazzantini added: “The team was once again fantastic; it was a well-deserved victory that they built, pursued, and earned. This victory is also for everyone who worked to ensure the players were in the best possible condition to perform at their best, putting on a great show and delivering results. Being promoted to Serie A is a significant achievement; it is an honor to represent this club and these colors.”

Captain Vero Boquete commented: "Today's match was another reflection of this season: Serie B isn't easy, but the team has always stayed united, pursuing a clear goal, and we've finally achieved it. This is a truly special day for us; we've won a title and reached a milestone that will last forever. We’ve been on a special journey; we’ve stayed united through the good times and the bad, with the support of the entire staff and the Club. Dealing with the pressure to win and actually pulling it off is never easy, but we did it."

The Club is immensely proud to celebrate this important milestone for the entire Como 1907 organization and the BiancoBlu women’s division.
