Como 1907 Sets The Pace With Signing of Spanish Youth International Assane Diao from Real Betis

Como 1907 is delighted to announce the signing of Assane Diao from Real Betis. The 19-year-old winger, known for his exceptional pace, versatility, and goal-scoring abilities, joins on a four and half year contract until the end of the 28/29 season.

Born in Ndongane, Senegal, and raised in Spain, Diao has rapidly ascended through the ranks of European football. Standing at 1.85 meters, he began his career in the youth systems of Badajoz, Flecha Negra, and Balón de Cádiz before joining Real Betis in 2021.

During his time with Real Betis, Diao has made 28 La Liga appearances, contributing significantly with goals and assists, including a memorable equaliser against FC Barcelona in December 2024. On the international stage, Diao has represented Spain at various youth levels, including the U19 and U21 teams.

On Diao joining the club, head coach Cesc Fàbregas commented: Assane possesses a combination of speed, technical skill, and an eye for goal. Off the ball, he shows great intelligence in finding open spaces to run into. His versatility will be a great asset to the team and I look forward to working with him.
