Como 1907 Primavera are ready to get started: today, Sunday, 23 August, at 11:00am, Como 1907 Primavera will make its debut in the Primavera 1 league away to Empoli. It marks an important moment for the Club and the team, who, under new head coach Gianluca Falsini, will take on the Tuscan side at the Stadio Torrini in Sesto Fiorentino.
The meeting between Como and Empoli is a particularly significant one. Last season, the two sides won Groups A and B respectively in the Primavera 2 championship. They then faced each other in the Primavera 2 Super Cup, with the Tuscan side coming out on top. Just a few months later, the two teams meet again, this time on the opening day of the Primavera 1 season.
The BiancoBlu will build on last season's success, which saw them secure the championship title and promotion following a 2-2 draw away to Virtus Entella. Como will carry much of that squad into the new season, including a strong group of players who have already represented Italy at youth international level, such as Matteo Albini, Alessio Baralla, Lorenzo Bonsignori, Cristiano De Paoli and Samuele Pisati. Francesco Andrealli also forms part of the group and represents Peru at youth international level. The squad has also been strengthened by forward Kevin Fustini, who has represented Italy at youth level, forward Robin Thiland-Herard, a member of the French youth national teams, and goalkeeper Mattia Damioli.
Under the guidance of head coach Gianluca Falsini, the team is preparing not only for its Primavera 1 debut but also for its first-ever UEFA Youth League campaign. Falsini, who recently competed in Primavera 1 with Roma, spoke about what this new challenge means for the Club and the team: "We can't wait to compete on a major stage like the Primavera 1 league. We've just completed five weeks of hard work, and we know this season will be long and challenging. We'll start straight away against a strong side like Empoli, but we're eager to put into practice everything we've been working on. For the Club, this is another important step in our journey of growth. We'll work hard to achieve success, while keeping the continuous development of our players at the heart of everything we do."
The match against Empoli will be available exclusively in Italy via the Sportitalia website and app, on the Primavera TV channel.
