Como 1907 is pleased to announce the signing of central defender Willy Kambwala from Villarreal CF on loan until the end of the 2026/27 season, with an option to make the move permanent.
Kambwala began his development in France with FC Sochaux before joining Manchester United’s academy in 2020.
He made his senior debut for Manchester United against West Ham United in December 2023 and went on to make ten first team appearances during the 2023/24 season, including eight in the Premier League. He was also part of the squad that won the FA Cup that season.
Kambwala joined Villarreal in the summer of 2024, making 21 appearances across La Liga and the Copa del Rey during his first season in Spain as the club finished fifth and qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking about the signing, Head Coach Cesc Fàbregas said: "Willy is a young defender with strong qualities. He is quick, powerful and comfortable defending space, but he also has the character and desire to keep improving. He has already experienced football in England and Spain, and we believe our environment can help him take another important step. We are very happy to welcome him to Como."
