COMO 1907 v PARIS FC: Match Preview

After a long break, Como 1907 returns to the pitch for its first pre-season friendly, taking on Paris FC behind closed doors at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium. With the Como Cup just around the corner, Cesc Fàbregas' side begins its pre-season campaign with an important first test. Several players from the club's academy are also expected to feature as the coaching staff assesses the squad ahead of the new season. It will be a valuable challenge against a strong opponent, who are coming off an impressive campaign that saw them finish 11th in Ligue 1. The French side is led by English head coach Liam Rosenior, who took charge of the Parisian club earlier this month.

Comments from Como 1907 manager Cesc Fàbregas ahead of tomorrow's match against Paris FC:

"Tomorrow is another important step in our preparation. We have several new players, as well as young players coming through from the academy, and these matches give them the opportunity to understand our ideas, our intensity and the way we want to play. At this stage, the priority is to build fitness, create connections and help everyone become comfortable within the team. Paris FC are a strong and interesting opponent, so it will be a good test for us."

Overview: Paris FC

Paris FC is an ambitious club from the French capital that, after spending several years in the lower divisions, is now looking to establish itself among the country's top teams. After finishing fifth in Ligue 2 in the 2023/24 season, the club enjoyed a historic 2024/25 campaign, securing promotion to Ligue 1 for the first time in its history. The club currently plays its home matches at the Stade Jean Bouin. Last season, Paris FC finished 11th in Ligue 1 and reached the Coupe de France Round of 16, having knocked out Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 32.

Tomorrow's match at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium will also provide an important test for Paris FC and, in particular, their new head coach, Liam Rosenior. Appointed on 7 July 2026, the Englishman is using pre-season to implement his playing philosophy and shape the squad ahead of the new campaign. Rosenior arrives at Paris FC with significant Ligue 1 experience. During his time at Strasbourg, he guided the club to a seventh-place finish in the 2024/25 season, securing qualification for the 2025/26 UEFA Conference League. He then took charge of Chelsea midway through the 2025/26 campaign before making the move to the French capital this summer.

Paris FC's squad also features former Como winger Jonathan Ikoné, alongside Italian internationals Diego Coppola and Ciro Immobile, as well as former Serie A midfielder Maxime Lopez. It is a young, dynamic side, with exciting midfield talents such as Patrick Zabi and Rudy Matondo, and they will be looking to build on the strong foundations laid during the 2025/26 season. Last season, the Parisians recorded impressive victories over some of France's biggest clubs, beating Monaco home and away in Ligue 1 and overcoming Paris Saint-Germain both in the league and in the Coupe de France. Those results underlined the team's ability to compete with the country's elite despite being newly promoted.
