Como 1907 Women Announce First Team Staff for Serie B Debut
Como 1907 have confirmed the full women’s first-team staff for their debut campaign in Serie B, a set-up the club says marks a major step forward in resources, expertise and ambition.
Sporting director Monica Caprini, who has overseen the growth of the women’s section, said the appointments reflected “excellent work” across both the senior side and the girls’ academy. “We are very pleased with the results achieved so far,” she said. “This is about building something lasting, with people who are committed to the long term vision and project.”
Coaching and technical team
Head coach Selena Mazzantini leads the squad into the new season. She brings six years of experience with Italy’s under-17 and under-19 national sides, and has taught on FIGC and UEFA coaching courses.
Her assistant is Carlo Cornacchia, a former Serie A, B and C defender who moved into coaching after a 12-year playing career. Cornacchia has worked alongside Claudio Ranieri and held posts in the Premier League, Ligue 1, and Serie A and B.
Willie Davis Jr joins as technical collaborator after a career in women’s football with North Carolina Courage Academy in the United States, while Alessandro Pegorari becomes goalkeeping coach following his work with Torino’s boys’ academy.
Fitness, analysis and support
Fitness work will be led by Paolo Visani, formerly of Mantova’s academy, and Federico Fumagalli, who arrives from Inter Women’s Primavera side.
The club has also invested in performance analysis, with Riccardo Moro, who has coached in Australia, England and with Como Women, appointed as match analyst, alongside data analyst Mattia Chiaratti, also from Como Women.
Medical and wellbeing
The medical department is headed by Dr Barbara Maggi. Lead physiotherapist Daniele Frosoni will work with massage therapist and osteopath Alessio Romano Gasbarri, and osteopath Domenico Candeliere. Nutritionist Andrea Carolina joins the set-up, while mental skills coaches Barbara Rossi, Marco Borgese and Sara Bordo will support players throughout the season.
Operations and management
Off the pitch, operations will be managed by organisational director Beatrice Riva, who previously worked with the European Club Association. General secretary Simone Praticò and team manager Francesca Vitale take on key day-to-day roles, with player care managed by Paolo Di Francesco and kit and equipment overseen by Mauro Capitani.
For Como 1907, the scale of the women’s programme this year is a clear sign of intent — but the tone remains one of quiet gratitude. The club says this is not simply about competing in Serie B, but laying foundations for the future.
