Como 1907 got their Coppa Italia Primavera campaign off to a winning start. Playing at the Centro Sportivo Volontè in Rovello Porro, manager Gianluca Falsini’s side beat Pescara 2-0 in the national cup. This is Como 1907’s first victory in this competition in the last three years.
The Lariani delivered a thoroughly convincing first-half display, creating a string of clear chances. Pisati was among the liveliest performers, rattling the crossbar after just ten minutes. He was not the only player in blue to be denied by the woodwork, as Soumah also struck the post from a set piece in the 28th minute. An opener for Falsini’s side had been coming, and it arrived at the 32nd minute when Papaccioli delivered a free-kick that was flicked home by matchday captain Ballone.
Como remained firmly in control after the break, keeping their composure in possession while applying persistent pressure on the Abruzzo outfit. With 15 minutes remaining, the Lariani sealed the result through substitute Fustini - who had replaced Harpur - tapping in from close range inside the six-yard box to send the Biancoblu through to the next round.
Falsini’s side now advance to the round of 16, where they will take on the winner of Milan vs. Catanzaro. The young Biancoblu will be back in action at the Centro Sportivo Volontè on Saturday, 31 October at 3:00 PM for matchday nine of the Primavera 1 Championship, where they will host Atalanta.
