Fàbregas Reunites with Vieira
On Sunday, April 27, Como 1907 will face Genoa at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia for the 34th matchday of Serie A Enilive. The Lariani, having won three consecutive matches against Monza, Torino, and Lecce, are aiming to break a historic record: Como have not won four consecutive Serie A matches since 1952. The Rossoblù, on the other hand, come into the match on the back of two straight defeats and are still without an away win in 2025.
“Genoa possess both quality and physicality, and often opt for direct play towards their forwards. We will need to be effective at pressing high, winning second balls, and dealing with their crosses with composure. It will be a balanced match; we are the two highest pressing teams in Serie A.”
“The recent victories should give us confidence and strengthen our belief in what we are doing, but they do not alter the way we work. What matters now is the right mentality, the desire to keep winning, managing situations calmly, and growing in maturity and character.”
Como 1907 Head Coach Cesc Fàbregas reunites with Patrick Vieira, former Arsenal and France legend, and commented on him:
“My first year as a professional footballer at Arsenal was alongside Patrick – we played together for two seasons before he moved to Juventus. He’s a great coach; I also faced him when I was at Monaco and he was managing Nice. I’ve always admired him – for me, he’s an idol, a true role model. In my personal list of iconic number 4s, it’s Guardiola and him. He helped me immensely.”
“I have the utmost respect for him – not just for the player he was, but for the leader he was on the pitch and the leader he continues to be as a coach. I’ll be grateful to him for the rest of my life. A World Cup winner, European champion, Arsenal legend, and captain – yet he welcomed a 16-year-old boy playing in the same position. On the pitch, he commanded respect; off it, he offered support.”
“When I was coming through, Wenger let him go to Juventus to make room for me, and yet he was nothing but gracious. A real man. It’s a shame we won’t be on the touchline together this Sunday, but I hope there will be other opportunities.”

Recent Encounters
Como 1907 and Genoa have met seven times in Serie A, with one victory for the Lariani, three draws, and three wins for the Rossoblù. In the first leg at the Ferraris, the match ended 1–1, with a goal from Lucas Da Cunha and a late equaliser by Vogliacco.
At home, Como 1907 are unbeaten in their three top-flight encounters against Genoa (1 win, 2 draws), conceding just three goals across those matches. The most common scoreline between the two sides is 1–1, which has occurred six times across Serie A and Serie B.
Players to Look Out for
The main threat in Genoa’s squad is Andrea Pinamonti, the club’s top scorer this season with eight goals. Also worth keeping an eye on are goal-scoring defenders Koni De Winter (three goals) and Johan Vásquez (two goals).
For Como 1907, the spotlight falls on Nico Paz (six goals, six assists) and Greek forward Tasos Douvikas. Lucas Da Cunha, who scored in the reverse fixture, and Gabriel Strefezza, who provided an assist against Lecce, are both in fine form.
Máximo Perrone is suspended, while Assane Diao is out injured.
