Fan Profile: Pietro Sancassani

Pietro Sancassani was born and raised in Bellagio, and his love for football began in 1981 with a memorable match: Como vs. Juventus. “Roberto Bettega and Marco Tardelli had scored for Juve. Then, in the 69th minute, Como 1907’s Marco Nicoletti scored from the penalty spot. The game ended 1-2, but the result wasn’t as important as the emotions I felt going to the Sinigaglia for the first time. So much so that I convinced myself to take the ferry from Bellagio to Como for every game until I got my driving licence,” he recalls.

For 43 years, Pietro has shared his love for Como 1907 with his fellow townspeople. He is the president of Fedelissimi Bellagio, a group of Como 1907 supporters from Bellagio in the province of Como. “In 2014, we founded the ‘Fedelissimi Bellagio’ club, with about 80 season ticket holders a year, reviving the sector of Fedelissimi Pucci, an old fan club associated with Bellagio that had dissolved in the late 1990s. These days we are approaching a hundred members, about half of whom are season ticket holders in the Curva,” he explains.

Pietro and his group of fans have supported Como 1907 through highs and lows, witnessing the club move through all the categories: Serie D, C, B, and A. They travel together and follow Como 1907 wherever they play. “The bond between Fedelissimi Bellagio members is strong and it’s not only about football. When Como 1907 plays at home, we travel to Como in a minibus or several cars, always as a group. We use away matches as an opportunity to get together. The recent promotion was an incredible celebration: 21 years of waiting, finally celebrated, like the ‘SÈMM TURNAA’ written on the shirt that we made, which means ‘We’re back (in Serie A)’.”

One of the most exciting moments last season was Cutrone’s goal against Venezia in the 93rd minute. “What a goal,” recalls Pietro. “After that turning point, we didn’t lose again.” For him, these moments fuel the fans’ passion and keep them connected to the team.

Pietro has great hopes for the future of the team, dreaming of continuous growth year after year. “Every year there’s an improvement, a step forward towards a better future. Now they are finally working on the stadium, after all these years of promises. It seems that the dream is becoming reality.

Challenges against the big teams are always exciting, and he can’t wait to follow the team everywhere. “We will also bring the family,” he adds.
