The Como 1907 2026/27 pre-season came to an end today with a prestigious fixture at Anfield against Liverpool, with the hosts claiming a 2-0 victory. Cody Gakpo opened the scoring in the 23rd minute before Jérémy Jacquet doubled the lead in the 44th. After the break, the BiancoBlu increased their attacking threat and created several opportunities, but the result remained in favour of the hosts.
Trevoh Chalobah made his first start in BiancoBlu after coming off the bench against Arsenal, while Mattia Liberali was once again named in the starting XI, continuing a pre-season in which he has gained valuable minutes. Nico Paz also made his first appearance of the summer, coming on in the 64th minute after returning from international duty for the World Cup.
Before kick-off, a Como 1907 delegation led by president Mirwan Suwarso, head coach Cesc Fàbregas and captain Lucas Da Cunha paid tribute at Anfield to the victims of the Hillsborough tragedy and to the memory of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva.
Earlier in the day, Como and Liverpool had also faced each other behind closed doors at the AXA Training Centre in a match played over two 35-minute halves, which ended 0-0. The fixture gave Cesc Fàbregas the opportunity to distribute further minutes across the squad, with youngsters Riccardo Cassano and Fabio Rispoli also featuring. Among Como's best chances, Assane Diao went close to opening the scoring in the first half following a pass from Ivan Smolčić.
The BiancoBlu now turn their attention to Saturday 22 August 2026, when Como 1907 will begin their 2026/27 Serie A Enilive campaign away to Udinese.
