Match preview Como vs Cremonese

Fresh from two consecutive wins, one secured in Florence thanks to Jayden Addai’s last-minute goal, and a more comfortable victory at the Sinigaglia against Sassuolo in the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa, tomorrow the Lariani welcome Cremonese to the home ground, Sinigaglia Stadium. The teams, led by Cesc Fàbregas and Davide Nicola, will face each other for the fifth matchday of Serie A Enilive 2025/26.

Como 1907’s Head Coach Cesc Fabregas before Como-Cremonese

”Cremonese are a side who defend very well and, when the opportunity to play and create attacking moves comes, they do so with intent and strong belief in their system, and they have the quality players to execute it.

“This is the first time we’ve played three matches in under six days. It’s a test for us, an opportunity to show who we are, where we are in our journey, and to keep moving forward.

“Having so many different qualities and options in midfield is a good problem to have. It’s important not just for me, but for the whole team, not only for those who start, but also for those who come off the bench and can make an impact.

“For me, the most important thing is consistency. If we perform well today but not tomorrow, it doesn’t mean anything. It’s about having the right mentality, taking it game after game. The players show me every day that this is a team that’s hungry, determined, and always striving to improve.”

Cesc Fàbregas spoke at today’s press conference, ahead of tomorrow’s Serie A Enilive match against Cremonese at the Stadio Sinigaglia.

Cremonese

The Grigiorossi arrive at the Sinigaglia match as one of only four teams still unbeaten in the league, after victories against Milan and Sassuolo and draws against Hellas Verona and Parma.

Despite being the team with the most shots conceded in Serie A Enilive at the moment, Cremonese have shown great solidity in their first four games in the competition, conceding only three goals. In the 3-5-2 formation fielded by Davide Nicola so far, the newly promoted side has shown a tendency to develop play down the flanks, led by Zerbin and Pezzella, relying on Franco Vazquez’s creativity to supply the striker and on the solidity and intensity of the midfield trio to further cover the defensive line composed of Terracciano, Baschirotto and Bianchetti.

In the four matches played so far, Cremonese has stood out for its compactness and combativeness, as demonstrated by the defensive recoveries and aerial duels statistics, in which the Lombardy-based team is currently ranked fifth and fourth in the entire league.

Previous Encounters

The match at Sinigaglia will be the 30th encounter between the two Lombardy teams. The record stands at 11 wins for Como, 7 for Cremonese and 11 draws.

The last official match between the two teams dates back to the last matchday of the 2021/22 Serie B championship, while the last Serie A match dates back to 18 November 1984, when Como won 1-0 thanks to a goal by Massimo Albiero.

Cesc Fàbregas and Davide Nicola will face each other for the third time in their careers after last season’s doubleheader between Como and Cagliari, in which Como, after a 1-1 draw in Sardinia in the first leg, secured the three points in the return leg with a 3-1 win.
