Matchday five of Serie A marks the final fixture before the international break, which will take place over the last weekend of September and the first weekend of October.
This Sunday, Cesc Fàbregas’s side travel to face newly-promoted Frosinone, who have been one of the early season's surprise packages, picking up seven points from their opening four matches. Captain Lucas Da Cunha and his team-mates will be looking to extend their unbeaten start to the campaign, having recorded three wins and a draw in the league alongside a memorable Champions League debut victory over Leipzig at the Sinigaglia.

Frosinone
The team led by manager Massimiliano Alvini is one of the newly promoted sides in the new Serie A season, having finished the 2025/26 Serie B campaign in second place, just one point behind the leaders, a position that earned them automatic promotion to the top flight.
The team from the Ciociaria region began the league campaign by surprising many experts with their performances and results. Indeed, following a narrow defeat in their opening match against Juventus, Frosinone went on to secure a convincing 3-0 victory at the Stadio Franchi in Florence and beat Venezia 3-2 at home, before recording their third consecutive positive result in Genoa with a 1-1 draw at Marassi.
Alvini’s squad also includes a familiar face from the Como area: Ben Kone, an Ivorian midfielder who made 18 appearances for Como 1907 across the season in which they were promoted to Serie A (2023/24) and the season after.
In midfield, manager Alvini is spoilt for choice: Calò, Masini and Schmidt offer a sharp blend of technical quality, dynamism and defensive grit. Further back, captain Monterisi commands a backline protecting Palmisani, a goalkeeper who has impressed with a string of crucial saves since the start of the campaign. Up front, Kvernadze and Raimondo, the latter trailing only AS Roma’s Malen in the Serie A goalscoring charts, continue to provide a reliable threat, having bagged six goals between them in their last three league outings.
Previous encounters
There have been eight previous meetings between Como and Frosinone in the Coppa Italia, Serie C and Serie B: Frosinone have won five times, Como twice, and there has been one draw.
Frosinone and Como 1907 have never met in Serie A, making this Sunday's clash the first-ever top-flight encounter between the two clubs.
The Lariani last visited the Stadio Benito Stirpe in Serie B back in September 2022, when the hosts secured all three points. However, Como did taste victory on ground just the season before, claiming a 2-1 win in February 2022 courtesy of goals from Nicholas Ioannou and Ettore Gliozzi.
