Como 1907 Women are pleased to announce the appointment of Nils Nielsen as Technical Director, bringing one of the most experienced minds in international women’s football to the shores of Lake Como.
A seasoned national team coach with experience across three different countries, Nielsen arrives with a career shaped by international football, long-term player development and the building of high-performance environments. He has led the women’s national teams of Denmark, Switzerland and Japan, and has also held the role of Director of Football for Manchester City Women, where he worked across player recruitment and development for the women’s first team and academy pathway.
As Como 1907 Women prepare to compete in Serie A for the first time, Nielsen will help shape the club’s long-term strategy across the technical side, performance, player development and pathway planning both for the First Team and the Academy.
Nils Nielsen said, "It’s a pleasure to be here, this is a very special city in my memory. This Club is rather young but the project is very well underway and everyone is so excited about it, I see a lot of positives in this environment. This team comes from a big success, an historic promotion to Serie A, this spreads a lot of good energy and we need to build on top of that. It’s very exciting to be here, this is a fantastic project, I will do everything I can to try and ensure we follow the path that has been laid out. Nothing comes without hard work and dedication, we will do everything we can".

He has worked with national teams, major tournaments, elite players and long-term football structures, and that perspective will be incredibly valuable for Como 1907 Women as the club enters Serie A. This is an important appointment, not only for the first team, but for the future of the programme".
