Matchday nine of the Primavera 1 league saw Como 1907 take to the pitch at the Centro Sportivo Volonté against Atalanta. It was the BiancoBlu who came out on top, both in terms of performance and the result: the final score was 2-1 in favour of manager Gianluca Falsini’s side, with decisive goals - one in each half - from Fustini and Albini. Atalanta’s goal, scored by Olijars, came in stoppage time.
The Biancoblu set the tempo right from the opening whistle, breaking the deadlock inside six minutes through Fustini from a set piece. Despite holding the early lead, Gianluca Falsini’s side kept their foot on the gas in search of a second, counter-pressing effectively and rarely allowing the visitors to venture forward.
Atalanta attempted to mount a response after the interval, stepping up their press and turning to the bench to trouble the hosts. Como kept their cool, however, remaining well-drilled both in and out of possession. Midway through the second half, the hosts doubled their advantage: De Paoli won the ball back and drove down the flank, linked up with Turella, and picked out a late run into the box from Albini, who drilled an angled strike into the back of the net.
Shortly after, Zamagni came close to adding a third for Como, who continued to manage the game comfortably despite Atalanta’s push to find a way back in. Olijars did pull one back with a stoppage-time header from a corner, but it was too little, too late, as the Lariani held on to claim all three points.
Next up in Primavera 1 for Como is an away trip on Sunday, 8 November at 3:00 PM against Fiorentina at the Viola Park's Stadio Curva Fiesole. Before that trip to Tuscany, however, the Biancoblu turn their attention to matchday four of the UEFA Youth League, where they will travel to face Lens on Wednesday, 4 November at 2:00 PM.
