Como 1907 won 1-9 at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis against Lens, claiming the first historic away victory of their journey in European.
The BiancoBlu took the lead after just seven minutes, with Douvikas breaking the deadlock before doubling the score in the 32nd minute. Shortly before half-time, in the 40th minute, Nico Paz scored the third goal, dedicating it to Jesús de Miguel, the CD Tenerife footballer who tragically passed away in recent days.
At the start of the second half, captain Da Cunha scored the fourth goal, and a few minutes later, German defender Marc Oliver Kempf scored his first goal in the Champions League. On the half-hour mark, Douvikas completed his personal hat-trick, before Mattia Liberali also got on the scoresheet, scoring his first career goal in the Champions League.
In the 62nd minute, 18-year-old Italian-Brazilian midfielder Matteo Papaccioli, who came through Como’s youth academy, made his European debut. He then marked the occasion with a goal in stoppage time to complete the 9–1 scoreline, following a goal from second-half substitute Martin Baturina. RC Lens had briefly reduced the deficit through Aguilar in the 67th minute.
