Touchpoint Spotlight: Macelleria Gatti

“A butchers’ rooted in history in the heart of Como.”

Paolo Gatti is the face behind the historic butchers, Macelleria Gatti, a guardian of over 60 years of culinary excellence, now an integral part of the Como4Como project in the heart of Como, just a few meters away from Piazza San Fedele. Paolo’s business is a living testament to local tradition, adorned with the title of “Historical Business” awarded by the ‘ Regione Lombardia’ and which it has held since 2019. Macelleria Gatti joined the project with the aim of contributing to the City of Como by supporting the Como 1907.

“The business is a family affair, it runs with the help of my brother Roberto and my sister Elisabetta. With a total of nine employees, we consider ourselves a solid and well-established presence in the community. Our loyal clientele is our strength, we have had customers who have been visiting our shop for sixty years, bringing in the next generation of their family too.”

The butchers shop, adorned with numerous trophies won in national livestock competitions, is a guarantee of quality for tourists too. “We offer tourists local products and top-quality meat, perfect to make their stay in Como even more special, perhaps for a BBQ or special event. Our T-bone steaks are one of our best-selling products, requested by many over the years. Additionally, they can take home a Como4Como souvenir, bringing a piece of this magnificent city with them wherever they go.”

Paolo is part of a family of devoted Como fans and reminisces about his childhood as a supporter. “I fondly remember the initiative promoted by the now-closed ‘L’Ordine’ newspaper in Como, which offered two tickets for a game to those who came up with the most captivating slogan related to Como 1907. Inspired by the legendary striker Enzo Cavagnetto, crucial in Como’s Serie B victory in the 79/80 season, I wrote my winning slogan ‘with Enzo Cavagnetto, we will win the championship,’ a memory that I proudly cherish.”
