Como 1907 and Teatro Sociale di Como Join Forces in the Name of Culture and Local Community

Como 1907 and the Teatro Sociale di Como have renewed their partnership, a collaboration that, since 2021, has brought together two of the city’s most historic institutions in a shared mission to promote the local area, foster cultural development, and encourage community engagement.

The collaboration is set to continue and evolve, driven by a shared ambition: to strengthen the bridge between two centres of excellence in the region, nurturing dialogue and creating opportunities for meaningful cross-pollination.

Como 1907 and Teatro Sociale di Como will present numerous joint initiatives, particularly for the 2025/26 Fairplay Season that the theatre is dedicating to Sport and all athletes, in celebration of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The first collaborative event was the opening of the Sport and Theatre in the Square showcase, which will see Piazza Verdi, in front of the theatre, come alive during all September weekends with sporting activities, in partnership with local associations.

On Saturday, September 6th and Sunday, September 7th, Como 1907 participated in the first weekend with HUMAN GOAL. where the game is real. And the players…stand still!: The club positioned a large inflatable table football game in Piazza Verdi in front of the theatre, available to all who wish to play and have fun by taking on the role of life-sized game figures.

To foster cross-community engagement, beginning Saturday, September 6th, a special reciprocal discount programme will launch. Como 1907 season ticket holders will receive 10% off individual theatre Season show tickets, while Teatro Sociale patrons will enjoy the same discount on match tickets. This exclusive offer allows each season ticket holder on both sides to purchase one discounted ticket per performance or match until the end of the 2025/26 football season, subject to availability.

Additional initiatives include:

  • Special events for fans and spectators, featuring evenings dedicated to sport and culture
  • Projects for schools and young people in the area, with educational programs that integrate sporting and theatrical culture
  • Shared communication activities to promote Como’s value as a centre of cultural and sporting excellence

“We are proud to renew our partnership with the Teatro Sociale of Como, an institution that perfectly embodies the tradition and culture of our city, and with whom we have been collaborating since 2021. At Como 1907, we deeply believe in the synergy between sport and culture to engage our community in an authentic and continuous way. Como 1907 is not just about football, it represents identity, a sense of belonging to the local area, and a commitment to the city of Como and its people”. Commented Francesco Terrazzani, CEO of Como 1907.

“This partnership, which unites two seemingly distant worlds that are deeply connected to the hearts of our citizens, stems from the desire to create synergies between the entertainment and sports sectors, offering a unique and comprehensive experience to all their enthusiasts. By joining forces, two of our city’s cultural and sporting pillars will provide their fans and audiences with an exclusive opportunity. We firmly believe that theatre and sport, while belonging to seemingly different spheres, share surprising similarities, starting with the live experience they offer, where the audience is an integral part of the event, and through their use of universal languages that transcend linguistic and cultural barriers,” says Barbara Minghetti, Programming Director of Teatro Sociale di Como – AsLiCo.

Through this renewed alliance, Como 1907 and the Teatro Sociale di Como reaffirm their role as ambassadors of the local area, committed to deepening the bond between sport, culture and art, and the wider community.

About Como 1907

Since 1907, Calcio Como has been a historic pillar of Italian football, with a legacy rooted in passion, dedication, and community involvement.

In 2017, the club faced adversity when financial troubles led to relegation to Serie D. Revitalisation came in 2019 with the acquisition by Indonesian conglomeration the Djarum Group, who spearheaded a successful resurgence, culminating in a return to Serie A in 2023.
Nestled on Lake Como’s shore, the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium encapsulates Como 1907’s deep roots within its city. The club embodies Como’s vibrancy, historic charm, and community spirit.

About Teatro Sociale

Founded in 1813, Teatro Sociale di Como is among Italy’s most active and forward-thinking historic theatres. Today it is managed by AsLiCo – Associazione Lirico Concertistica Italiana – an organisation recognised throughout Europe for its innovation in musical education, participatory opera, and audience development.

Since May 5, 2025, Dominique Meyer has served as the new President of Teatro Sociale di Como – AsLiCo. An economist and former Superintendent of Teatro alla Scala, Opéra National de Paris, and Wiener Staatsoper, Meyer brings extraordinary experience and international vision to the role.

The Teatro Sociale is much more than an opera house: it is a home for the community. It hosts seasons of theater, music, dance, concerts, educational projects, workshops, festivals, and social initiatives. It serves as a modern agora where tradition and experimentation coexist alongside accessibility and high artistic quality.

Through projects like 200.Com, the Como City of Music Festival, and Opera Education, the theatre has become a cultural model replicated throughout Europe. With Opera Education, a pioneering format recognised across Europe, the Theatre trains thousands of children and young people annually, guiding them into the world of opera as active participants.

Leading these special projects is Barbara Minghetti, Programming Director of the theatre. With a background that combines management and artistic vision, Minghetti has brought to life a new concept of theatre: participatory, accessible, and educational. She created Opera Domani, the first participatory opera format for children, now adopted in more than 15 countries.

Under her direction, Teatro Sociale has become a permanent laboratory for dialogue between art and society, capable of reaching the most unexpected venues – from schools to nursing homes, from balconies to urban gardens – without ever compromising artistic rigour.
