Torino-Como: Match Preview
After the break, the Lariani visit the Granata in a match that will take place on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Olimpico Grande Torino stadium. Both coming off a 0-0 draw, the Biancoblu at home against Cagliari and Torino in the derby against Juventus, the teams will try to keep their positive streaks alive: Marco Baroni’s team is on its sixth consecutive positive result in the league, while Cesc Fabregas’ team is on its ninth. For this reason, the match between the two teams promises to be very competitive and balanced.
Here are words from Como 1907’s Head Coach Cesc Fabregas before Torino-Como:
“Torino are a well-rounded side, with a clear identity and experienced players. On Monday we’re expecting a fiery atmosphere, an intense match, an opponent who know how to close space and break quickly. We’ll need to go there with energy, courage and the ambition to impose our style of play.
“Every match is different. But in the decisive moments we need to show greater hunger, more aggression and real ruthlessness in our desire to win. Every phase of play must show our intent and put the opposition under pressure. We’re working on that, it’s all part of the process.”
Torino
After encountering some difficulties at the start of the season, Torino made the necessary adjustments and quickly got back on track under the technical guidance of Marco Baroni. Despite the Granata having to cope with the injuries of Ilic and Giovanni Simeone, who has already scored four goals in the league, Torino will most likely line up in a 3-5-2 formation, a system in which the team has found balance, order, and fluidity.
In midfield, alongside playmaker Asllani, will be Vlasic and Casadei, two extremely dangerous wingers with different characteristics: the former is very strong in finishing and dribbling in tight spaces, while the latter is much more physical and dangerous in his runs. Lazaro and Pedersen will play as wing-backs, both gifted with great pace and crossing ability. Up front, Adams and Simeone were establishing themselves as the starting duo, but the Argentine’s injury will force Baroni to rely on Duvan Zapata or Cyril Ngonge alongside the Scot.
Torino is a team that occupies the field very well and is able to maintain intensity throughout the game. In this championship, the Granata have beaten both Roma and Napoli, proving themselves capable of causing difficulties for any type of opponent.
Previous encounters
Como and Torino have faced each other 38 times in their history between Serie A, Serie B, and Coppa Italia. The overall balance, in favor of the Granata, counts 21 wins for Torino, 7 for Como, and 10 draws.
