Who are the Creative Duo using football animation to educate children? This is the Story Of Animated Football
Michael Giuca and Federico Badella are the creative minds behind “Animated Football”, an innovative project that merges their expertise in animation with their passion for football. Giuca, who hails from Sicily and is associated with Ronf Animation, and Badella, who hails from Asti and is the CEO of Effezeta, a digital marketing agency, have collaborated since 2021 to produce animated and humorous cards that engage players and teams across Italy’s top football league.
Coming from backgrounds in different fields, they recognised an opportunity to combine their talents by creating comics based on football players. The first comic strip was based on Serie A superstar and current AS Roma player, Paulo Dybala. “At first, we didn’t expect players to respond,” they recall, “but over time, the results exceeded our expectations.”
In September 2024, as Como 1907 made their return to Serie A after 21 years, the Club turned to Michael and Federico to engage younger fans and instill a sense of community pride. Though neither Michele nor Federico are from Como, the pair were determined to truly understand the City, researching its history, landmarks, and symbols to make each comic authentic and able to resonate with the local community. “Every project is personal to us,” says Michael.

For every Como 1907 home match, Animated Football creates a new comic strip that brings stories inspired by the club’s players, history, and the values that make football more than just a game to life. Each comic touches on the universal themes of sportsmanship, perseverance, and community, ensuring that every story resonates not only with Como’s fans but with football lovers worldwide.
Fans have embraced the comics , with both local supporters and figures from the football world praising the duo’s work. “We feel the fans’ affection, and it’s incredible,” Federico says. “Even people from the football world have reached out to express their appreciation.”
