Raphaël Varane Visits Sant’Anna Hospital

Some moments stand out beyond the football pitch. Last week, World Cup winner, former Real Madrid defender, and Como 1907 Board of Education member Raphaël Varane visited the pediatric ward at Sant’Anna Hospital in Como—bringing a welcome dose of energy and encouragement to patients, families, and hospital staff.

During the visit, Varane took time to meet with children and their families, sign autographs, share stories, and spend time with hospital staff. “These hospital visits mean a lot to me,” Varane said. “You go there to bring a little comfort, a little light, and it’s the children who end up teaching you a lesson in courage. They’re true little heroes.”

As part of the day, Como 1907 also donated seven Tytocare devices to the hospital. These innovative tools support remote medical check-ups for children with complex conditions, providing extra flexibility for doctors and caregivers, and helping ensure continuity of care. The donation was made on behalf of the club as a Christmas gift to the hospital.

Healthcare professionals at Sant’Anna expressed their appreciation for the visit. “We thank Como 1907 for their ongoing support and generosity toward our pediatric department,” said Dr. Angelo Selicorni, Head of Pediatrics at Sant’Anna Hospital. “Visits from these champions always bring moments of joy and happiness to our young patients. Thank you and Forza Como!”

Whether on the pitch or in the community, Como 1907 continues to support meaningful projects that bring people together—with the help of figures like Raphaël Varane, who combines experience in elite sport with a genuine commitment to youth development and education.
