A Path That Grows Stronger: Como 1907 and OSHa for Inclusive Sport and Volunteering

“The support of Como 1907 is much more than a financial contribution: it is a gesture of trust, an encouragement to believe in continuity, growth and the transformation of lives.” With these words, Mariangela Volpati, President of OSHa ASD-APS Como, describes the value of the collaboration with the Club, a partnership that has grown stronger over the years, becoming a key reference point for the development of inclusive projects across the territory.

For a long time, Como 1907 has supported OSHa, an organization that has been active for over fifty years in promoting sport for people with disabilities, helping to sustain a pathway that places individuals, relationships and the right for everyone to experience sport authentically at its core.

Last season, the Club supported the project “Io per te, tu per me” (“Me for you, you for me”), an initiative that highlighted volunteering as a form of mutual exchange, creating meaningful connections between young volunteers and athletes with disabilities. An experience capable of generating real benefits for both sides, transforming sporting activity into a space for connection, growth and sharing.

Today, this journey continues with “Nuotiamo Insieme-Swimming and Training,” a project that represents the natural evolution of previous activities. The initiative introduces a key element: structured training for volunteers, designed to provide technical, relational and safety skills, essential to ensure an increasingly inclusive and high-quality environment.

Volunteers are guided through a development path that makes them increasingly aware of their role within the organization: not just participants, but prepared, trained and motivated individuals, capable of understanding athletes’ needs and building effective relationships, contributing to the development of autonomy and confidence in people with disabilities. For the athletes, this translates into a more complete sporting experience: not only time in the water, but also opportunities for connection, belonging and personal growth, where interaction with peers becomes an integral part of the journey.

The project thus continues to embody its original spirit: a community built through reciprocal relationships, where everyone gives something and, at the same time, receives much more.

Project continuity is one of the key elements of the collaboration between Fondazione Como ETS and OSHa. It is not about supporting individual initiatives, but about accompanying a journey over time, one that evolves and responds to emerging needs. “Thanks to this stable collaboration, we can build projects that are not isolated moments, but milestones in a journey that supports young people with disabilities over time, allowing them to experience safe, inclusive and meaningful sporting opportunities” the President added.

“And when such an important sporting organization chooses to support a project over time, it sends a message to the community: that no one should be left behind and that inclusion is a commitment that deserves continuity,” concluded Mariangela Volpati, highlighting how the Biancoblù Club contributes to strengthening a more supportive, aware community, one that is better able to recognize the value of every individual.
