Como Cup Final

Five days, four teams, one trophy and it all comes down to this.

For the past week, Como has transformed into a football fans’ paradise, bringing together supporters from across the globe through culture and the beautiful game.

Ajax, Al-Ahli, Celtic and their supporters descended on the lake in their thousands for the first ever edition of Football on the Lake, with the brand new Como Cup up for grabs.

Fan zones took over Piazza Cavour, pop-up stores unveiled dedicated ranges for the tournament and exclusive new designs, while the Sinigaglia stadium was even transformed into a music festival for a night.

Alongside supporters from every club, neutrals have made the trip to discover exactly what the hype has been about, with football fans from as far afield as South America and even Australia found soaking up the atmosphere around the city.

On the pitch there has been just as much to take in, with Como showcasing new signings such as Nicolas Kuhn and Jayden Addai, while renowned names such as Riyad Mahrez and Ivan Toney set foot on the Sinigaglia pitch.

Two opening matches saw the hosts Como and Ajax book their spot in Sunday night’s final, but the event has been as much about collaboration as it has been competition.

“It’s been really good to be here, meeting new friends, meeting supporters of all the teams,” said Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers on experience of the tournament.

“We are here to prepare for our season and our first game was very good. As a coach I always love to develop players and see the players continuously improve.”

“It’s important for everything and everyone,” said Como coach Cesc Fabregas of the tournament. “For the city, to see four high-quality matches in our stadium is wonderful.”

The final sees the curtain come down on the week-long festival, and there’s still time to secure your seat for Como–Ajax. Tickets are available via comofootball.com.
