COMMUNITY
Community Ties: Olimpic Center Cantù and Como 1907
Como 1907 is driven by a powerful belief: “We shape our community; thereafter, they shape us.” To deepen its connection with the city, the club launched a unique initiative: an array of local businesses, known as touchpoints, that are provided with Como 1907 products to sell with profits then shared between the touch points, the club and the community. At its core, this project is about more than just commerce; it’s about building a shared identity that strengthens the fabric of the community. This sense of unity was demonstrated when the women’s team faced a challenge and were in need of a local gym to train in. Without hesitation, one of Como 1907’s touchpoints, Olimpic Center Cantù, stepped in, generously offering its facilities and services to support the team.
This was especially important as Como 1907’s women’s team aims to emulate the what the men’s team did and rise from the fourth division of Italian football to the pinnacle of the game Serie A. Leading the women’s team is Heather O’Reilly, three-time Olimpic Gold Medalist and FIFA Women’s World Cup winner. To achieve this as the men did it will take the support and commitment of not only the players and coaches but the whole community and businesses like Olimpic Center Cantù.

BLU Magazine recently had the privilege of sitting down with the team at Olimpic Center Cantù to dive into their story, explore their mission, and understand their deep connection to Como 1907. Here’s a glimpse into their journey and what makes their gym more than just a place to work out.
The Roots of Olimpic Center Cantù
The vision of Olimpic Center Cantù came to life on February 14, 1988 based on its founder’s passion for fitness. In its early stages, the space was just a small gym. However, due to the demand and needs of its clients, they quickly moved to a center up to date with the most advanced industry standards on February 14, 2000.
A Hub for Professional Athletes
At first, Olimpic Center Cantù simply opened its doors to share the passion of fitness with others. However, due to the fact that it is surrounded by professional sports teams like Como 1907 and Pallacanestro Cantù, it didn’t take long for the center’s mission to evolve and become a destination for athletes, both amateur and professional, looking for a top-tier training environment.
Over the years, Olimpic Center Cantù has not only attracted ambitious young athletes but has become a trusted training ground for professional teams, including Como 1907’s women’s squad.
The presence of these athletes have made the younger athletes that much more dedicated to their craft. The Olimpic Center Cantù team explained that “The women who train with us do so every day with determination and tenacity. Their efforts are directed towards achieving goals that often inspire them to aspire to be like their professional role models.”

What Sets Them Apart
Olimpic Center Cantù stands out for more than just its connection to Como 1907. To continue to strive for excellence and uniqueness, their team works extremely hard to ensure their space has “increasingly innovative equipment, offers flexible opening hours, and offers personalised training programs”.
Since the center’s driving value is also community, there is no doubt as to why Como 1907 has decided to partner with them. To learn more about Olimpic Center Cantù, visit their website at www.olimpiccenter.it, or stop by their facilities at Via Domea 47 in Cantù.
