Life Goals: Tasos Douvikas Finds His Place at Como
Tasos Douvikas has already shown Como what kind of player he is. Calm, determined and ambitious, he has settled quickly into life by the lake and into the rhythm of Serie A.
He began his story in Argos, where at the age of five he was already training in a small academy. His father, who had played football himself, and his godfather gave him extra sessions and the encouragement to follow the game seriously. “Football has been part of my life for as long as I can remember,” he says. “From a young age I was sure I wanted to play, so it was much easier to choose it as my path.” His career took him from Asteras Tripolis to Volos then Utrecht and Celta Vigo before arriving in Italy.
He describes the leagues he has passed through as very different. In the Netherlands he found open attacking football. In Spain he discovered a technical game that demanded precision. Now in Italy he says the challenge is unlike anywhere else. “It is the most difficult league. There are so many duels and tactical battles and you must be one hundred percent ready for every game.”

The move to Como has already given him memories he will keep. His first Serie A goal came from the bench, a finish that rescued a point and gave him what he calls “a huge boost.” Of the goals he has scored so far he singles out the one against Lazio as “very special” but there have been other moments too. Against Torino his header from a Vojvoda cross gave Como victory after a tense game. Each goal has mattered not only for the result but for what it says about his ability to deliver when the team needs it.
Much of his early impression has been shaped by his relationship with coach Cesc Fàbregas. “We have a very good relationship,” Douvikas says. “He gives us so much as a team and individually. He helps me a lot to improve. I am ambitious and I like that he is too.”
He also speaks warmly of the club environment. “I found a very good and positive atmosphere. That is important because you are happy every morning when you go to training. In the end that is what really matters, whatever job you do it is important to enjoy it.” The dressing room at Como has become a space where he feels settled, with teammates he describes as supportive and open.
Off the pitch he has been discovering Como and Italy with his girlfriend. “Como is beautiful,” he says. “We are having a great time here. We have explored many places in Italy but Como is the most beautiful of all. It has a lot in common with the Greek islands. The lake is like the sea in Greece.” He smiles when asked to compare Athens. “Athens is completely different. If I had to compare Como to a city it would be closer to Milan.”
There are personal details too. He enjoys billiards and is still looking for a table to play on in Como. He has long admired Ronaldo Fenômeno, his role model: “Since I was little he has always been my role model. I watched so many of his videos and it was like seeing him play live.”
He knows what it means to score but he also knows that collective ambition is what drives a club forward. “For me the team goals come first,” he says. “I want us to reach our objectives and finish as high as possible. On a personal level I want to give one hundred percent every day to stay fit without injuries and to keep improving.”

That sense of collective focus extends to his international ambitions. Douvikas has been capped by Greece since 2021 and hopes his work at Como will bring more call ups. “It is the greatest honor to represent your national team. I will keep giving my one hundred percent and I believe I will achieve that.”
He is also open about how he sees himself fitting alongside established players such as Álvaro Morata. He believes their styles can complement one another, with Morata comfortable dropping deeper and him making the runs that stretch defenses.
At twenty five he stands at the point where determination meets opportunity. His goals have already carried weight in Como’s season and his character has made him a natural fit for the squad. Life in Como suits him and the club has embraced him. He plays with purpose, speaks with clarity, and carries himself with the assurance of someone who knows what he wants.
