Matteo Albini Signs His First Professional Contract with Como 1907

Como 1907 is pleased to confirm that Matteo Albini has signed his first professional contract, a clear marker of the club’s focus on developing Italian talent through the Academy pathway.

A left back born in 2009, Albini joined last summer from Brescia and made an immediate impression in the Biancoblù youth set up. In his first months in Como colours, he made 15 appearances, scoring three goals and providing four assists, progressing from the Under 17 squad to become a regular starter in Primavera 2. His performances have also been recognised at national level, earning several call ups to the Italy Under 17 team.

“It’s always a wonderful moment for us when one of the players from our youth academy signs their first professional contract. For Matteo, this is just the beginning. He’s a left back who has worked very hard since arriving here in Como last summer, and this is only the first step. This season he has already moved up from the U17s to the Primavera, which says a lot about his attitude and his potential. We hope to see many of our young Italian players sign their first professional contracts.

“Matteo is a great example of the idea that if you are good enough, you are old enough. If a player is ready to play at a higher level, then they won’t stay in their own age group. Matteo has earned the chance to move up, and we’ll keep doing what we can to accelerate his growth and challenge him at the right level.” Commented Osian Roberts, Head of Development at Como 1907.

On signing Matteo Albini said: “It is a unique feeling for me. I arrived at Como only a few months ago and never expected to sign my first professional contract in such a short time. I came here with the goal of settling in well with the Under 17 team, and now I find myself competing in the Primavera 2 league. Como has been fundamental to my growth from the very beginning, both as a player and as a person. I have improved a lot on the pitch, but I know I still have a lot to work on.

“Off the pitch, living away from home is teaching me to be more mature and responsible. The results I am achieving this season are down to the excellent preparation I did with the Under 17 team, and I would like to thank all the players and staff. Now I am facing bigger and more physical opponents, and I am learning the importance of technique and how to use it to my advantage. The higher the level, the faster the pace of the game becomes, and all of this helps you grow. My goals remain the same. I want to play football, improve every day, and become the best player and full back I can be. I want to make my family proud and repay them for all the sacrifices they have made for me.”

Como 1907 congratulates Matteo on this milestone and looks forward to supporting his continued development.
