Como 1907 take on Empoli at the Sinigaglia
Como 1907 will face Empoli at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on 29 March 2025 for Matchday 30 of Serie A Enilive. The Lariani, coming off a narrow defeat to AC Milan at San Siro, are determined to reignite their survival battle by making the most of their home advantage. Empoli, meanwhile, are struggling, having gone 14 consecutive league matches without a win.
“Empoli will play with quality and high pressing, especially with players like Fazzini, Kouamé, and Esposito, who were absent in the first leg. We must approach the game with conviction and the right mentality, paying close attention to preventive marking. We have studied and analysed our opponents, and it’s time to bring all that preparation onto the pitch tomorrow.
“Every match must be treated the same because they all carry the same three points. Last year, after the defeat against Cremonese, we went to Marbella during the break and said: ‘There are nine games left—let’s go and win them all to reach Serie A.’ We won six and drew three, which brought us to where we are today. Now, with nine games remaining, we want to win them all—then we will see where the journey takes us. Every game is important for Como, not just for survival, but also for the long-term growth we are building towards.” — Cesc Fàbregas, Como 1907 Head Coach, during the press conference.
Recent Encounters
Previous Serie A encounters between Como and Empoli show an overall balance, with one victory for the Lariani, three draws, and three wins for Empoli. The Tuscan side won the latest clash (1-0 in the first leg), while Como haven’t scored against Empoli in their last three league matches. However, the Lariani have recorded four wins and a draw from their last eight Serie A home matches.
Players to Look out For
Key threats to the Como defence will be Sebastiano Esposito (8 goals) and Lorenzo Colombo (5 goals), while Emmanuel Gyasi’s pace (2 goals this season) could also cause problems. For Como 1907, the spotlight will be on Lucas da Cunha—fresh off scoring at San Siro—and Assane Diao (5 goals), who, with one more goal, would become Como’s youngest Serie A goalscorer under 20. Nico Paz and Dele Alli are unavailable due to suspension.
