Match Preview Atalanta vs Como

After the home draw against Cremonese, the Lariani will face Atalanta away in the last match scheduled for today, Saturday 4th. Under the floodlights of the New Balance Arena, the Bianco Blu will face a team coming off a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Stadium against Juventus and a comeback win against Club Brugge in the Champions League.

Como 1907’s Sporting Director Carlalberto Ludi before Atalanta-Como

“We’re fortunate in that we know how to reset quickly, whether it’s after a win, a loss, or a draw. That comes down to having a very solid coach: Cesc is a strong character, a natural leader, a winner. The players being mostly young, bring an instinctive ability to keep pushing forward.”

“Facing Atalanta is always a real challenge. They’ve been playing in European competitions for years, and they have a squad built to handle any type of absence. Playing at home is another important factor. But on our side, we’ve consistently shown that this group, regardless of who’s available or the moment we’re in, always knows how to respond and push beyond the difficulties.”

“I want to emphasize who we are: a team with great intensity and aggression, aspects that are important to us. Our projects are built with a medium to long-term vision: aimed at delivering immediate results, but also laying foundations for the future.”

Atalanta

The hosts go into today’s evening match on a high after picking up three points in the Champions League thanks to Samardzic’s penalty and Pasalic’s goal. Apart from their defeat against PSG, the Nerazzurri have shown themselves to be a solid defensive side with balance and creativity in attack so far this season. The Nerazzurri are currently one of the only three teams still unbeaten after the first five matchdays of the league, boasting the second-best attack with 10 goals scored (tied with Inter) and the third-best defence with four goals conceded (tied with Como, Lazio and Cremonese).

Despite numerous injuries, with De Ketelaere, Scamacca, Scalvini, Kolasinac, Zalewsk, Kossounou and Bellanova all out, with Hien still to be assessed, the depth of the Nerazzurri squad will still allow Juric’s team to have top-level players at their disposal.

Honest Ahanor, born in 2008, is in the spotlight after two great performances against Juventus and Brugge playing as a left wing-back, even though he is naturally a wing-back. Ederson and Lookman are also back as they played as starters in the Champions League, while Samardzic and Sulemana are the two most in-form players in the “Dea” attack. Nikola Krstovic, who scored twice against Torino, is expected to lead the line.

Previous matches

In their history in Serie A, Serie B and the Coppa Italia, Como and Atalanta have faced each other 57 times. Overall, Como have won 20 times, Atalanta 18 times, and there have been 19 draws.

The last two official matches, played during the last Serie A championship, were very exciting. At the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Como secured a historic victory with goals from Strefezza, Fadera and a Kolasinac own goal, marking the team’s first Serie A win in 21 years. In the return fixture at the Stadio Sinigaglia, Atalanta responded with a narrow 2-1 victory.
